Injured troops could receive better care and benefits with new research

At a center in Columbia, researchers from Clemson University and Palmetto Health are recording simulations of battlefield injuries as part of a $1.6-million project funded by the Department of Defense. The goal is to begin laying the groundwork for a hands-free system that would document battlefield injuries to improve medical care and ensure troops receive the benefits they are due.

The kindness of Clemson University students was on full display last week as volunteers for Clemson Hope, a student-led nonprofit, wrapped more than 1,100 Christmas presents to deliver to two local elementary schools. It was part of their Adopt-A-Classroom campaign to bring cheer to children who may not receive gifts this holiday season.

Samsung Electronics America Friday announced a new research and development partnership with the state of South Carolina and its two largest universities, Clemson University and the University of South Carolina. Together with the state government, Samsung will create the Palmetto Consortium for Home Appliance Innovation [PCHAI], a robust R&D program designed to catalyze innovation, foster public/private collaboration, and nurture the next generation of advanced manufacturing professionals in South Carolina.
