Beware boxwood blight-infected holiday wreaths

Seemingly innocent holiday wreaths sold across the Palmetto State have been found to carry a devastating plant disease. Boxwood blight, a fungal disease that can be deadly to the familiar boxwood shrub, was confirmed on wreaths containing boxwood cuttings from a single North Carolina nursery.

Helicopters, tanks and other vehicles could someday be made of “smart material”  that senses damage, similar to how nerves tell the body it has been injured, with the help of new research based at Clemson University and funded by the U.S. Army Research Laboratory.

Clemson University will award degrees to more than 1,300 students in Littlejohn Coliseum on Thursday, Dec. 21. Undergraduates, master's and doctoral graduates from each college will receive their degrees during one of two ceremonies.

At Clemson University, however, an automotive engineering student program aims to do just that. For the Deep Orange 9 program at the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR), students are building a first-ever, high-performance, ultra-tough motorsports vehicle with a clean, fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain, advanced technical features and highly dynamic handling and acceleration.
